Since 1985, Terauto, Sociedade Terceirense de Automóveis, Lda. has made a name for itself in the business fabric of the Autonomous Region of the Azores. Since then, its business has been the commercialisation of motor vehicles, auto parts and accessories, and vehicle maintenance.

In 1987, Terauto was appointed the Official Toyota Dealer for the islands of Terceira and Graciosa, with a strategy aimed at achieving a leading position in the regional vehicle sales rankings. The company's history is thus closely linked to the Toyota brand and its representatives in Portugal.

After six years, Terauto expanded its operations to include representation of the prestigious BMW brand. In 2003, marking a new chapter in its history, the company took on the challenge of representing yet another iconic automobile brand – Citroën.

The company's development remained constant. In January 2009, Terauto began representing Toyota on the islands of Faial and Pico. With the acquisition of the former local dealership, the Terauto-Faial and Terauto-Pico branches were established.

In 2012, the company's development strategy continued with the start of MINI brand representation and the construction of new facilities on the island of Pico.

The year 2019 marked the addition of Nissan as a new brand under Terauto's dealership.

And on August 1st, 2024, the company became the official dealer for Fiat and Abarth.
